Surgery is a Craft of Mentorship
“Surgical knowledge cannot be reduced to anatomy textbooks. It is passed on through observation, through gesture, from hand to hand. It is a demanding legacy built on sharing, respect for one’s elders, scientific emulation and fellowship among peers.”

It was our mentor Pr Albert Trillat who sent us in 1983 to learn Shoulder Surgery alongside Charles S. Neer II in New York, and R. Peter Welsh in Toronto.

Harvard Ellman
Harvard Ellman was the pioneer of arthroscopic shoulder surgery, which he passed on to me as early as 1987 in Los Angeles.
